The New Season

I have had a look at some of your ideas for improving the cadet scheme from your annual returns and have put them into a poll below. Now it’s up to you as a collective group to state what takes your fancy….

Both Robin and Dan are currently liaising with the cadet coordinators at Bicester and Gransden Lodge regarding some inter-cadet competitions and visits. Details to follow …

And don’t worry … the summer is only around the corner……(?)

Reapplication – deadline approaching

The deadline for reapplying is fast approaching (Thursday 28th Feb) and as of yet we have had very few forms through. The link to the form is here:-

In order to reapply you need to have:
* Shown a commitment to your flying over the past year
* Shown a commitment to helping around the club over the past year
* Helped at the regionals or through a different means as agreed with Robin or Dan
* Sent through you re-application form
* Had a chat with Robin

Make sure you get this in ASAP to make sure you are not at risk of loosing your place!

Youth in Aviation Day

Formerly the Air League Day – the Youth in Aviation Day is the event of the year for any aspiring young pilots/engineers. This year will see a huge focus on networking and advice from senior professionals.

Large (semi) static display, loads of trusts and charities, and probably most importantly representatives from Aviation Schools and Airlines!

In the evening there’s a BBQ and a big party with live band etc.

Last year there was a large contingent from LGC who went including 2 instructors who flew through out the day.

If this takes your fancy take a look at the Facebook page :-

By now the current cadets should have received the email asking them to reapply for the scheme – please make sure you do so ASAP and by the absolute latest the last week of Feb.

For the guys that have applied for the first time you should hear shortly if your applications have been successful.

In the meantime :-

Congratulation to Joe who over the winter had achieved his XC endorsement and has converted to the ASW19.

Not only that but he has got his 5 hour silver duration on the hill and in wave at Portmoak! Good work!

Just a note about one club policy … if you wish to winch launch at LGC you must have an annual check – get this done whilst there are no too many thermals around!
