Congratulations to Tom Walker who went solo yesterday!
The Inter Club Cadet Challenge was hosted by Bicester this week, where the LGC team of Tom R, Jack, Joe, Harry and Simon took on teams of cadets from Cambridge, Weston and Bicester.
The LGC team came a credible 2nd (only 12 points behind the winners from Bicester) in the challenge which was to stay in the air for an exact amount of time with points being awarded up to the time limit, for altitude gained and points being deducted for time over the limit. LGCs best effort came from Harry who climbed to 5200 feet (up to the airspace limit) and was only 2 minutes short of the allotted time. Joe and Tom also converted to the K8.
Everyone appeared to have fun and had an opportunity to meet with cadets from other clubs, with this possibly becoming an annual event.
The below are pictures taken over the 2 days.
The Dunstable Regionals start on Saturday 17th August. As you all know the cadet help is invaluable to keep the comp running smoothly from setting up for the morning briefing to launching the grids (up to 60 gliders in an hour!).
The usual camping area will be available and sure there will be a good social element too. Hopefully there will be opportunities to fly in gliders, and possibly even tugs on some retrieves.
If you are free to help out, please can you email Dan, Robin and Director Andy Sampson to let them know the dates you hope to be at the club so that initial arrangements can start to be made. Andy hopes to also have a meet up with you on the Friday evening before hand to chat about the week ahead.
